Secular Activities

Drop-in Cafe

Every Friday during Slinfold School term time, the Drop-in Cafe is at the back of church for any adult who wants a bit of company and a chat. There is a toy box for any accompanying little ones. Entirely non-religious, the idea was started by a previous rector who noticed school parents chatting in the playground after dropping offspring into school in the mornings, whatever the weather. He recruited, initially, the Mother's Union (now extended to anyone in the congregation willing to help - if you'd like to volunteer contact Hilary Sherwin-Smith) to provide coffee and nibbles for all-comers. Drop-in is free, although there is a piggy-bank if you would like to make a small donation towards costs. Just occasionally the drop-in is extended to a full-blown Coffee Morning (for example we take part in Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning) or a Bacon Bap Brekkie, which takes place in the Village Hall next door to the church.

Slinfold Seniors

If you are too old for Club 18/30 then you will probably enjoy Slinfold Seniors, who meet on the second Wednesday of every month, in the Village Hall, from 10.30am to 12 noon. We start with tea/coffee and cake and chat. After this, the format varies from month to month. We may have a speaker on a wide range of subjects, a craft activity or a wide-ranging discussion on a previously agreed theme. Free entry, but donations requested towards craft materials etc. For more details please contact Rev. Rosemary

Churchyard Working Party

On the first Saturday of each month there is a working party in the churchyard, which is why our churchyard always looks so good. However, there is always more to do, so if anyone else wants to come along & help for a bit between 9.30am and 12.30, you will be very welcome. (We don't work non-stop - we do break for a cuppa half way through)

Church Bells and Handbells

Both activities occur usually weekly see Music at St. Peter's

Mental Stimulation

On this website and also in the Village magazine we provide 2 quizzes each year:-
in the autumn we have our 'Quotations Quiz for Christmas' which you can find here.
in the spring we have a Cryptic Quiz to raise funds for Christian Aid, find it here
